Tuesday 28 October: Tune Into More 4 to See SIPs Project in Action
Last year, Jamie Ashton of A Space Architects built his own contemporary house in Hull using SIPS. This was the second of his SIPs projects, the first being a more traditional-style build for one of his clients in Cherry Burton, near Hull.
Now you can catch Jamie’s self-build project in action on Channel 4’s Building the Dream, in which architectural designer Charlie Luxton helps people build homes that are both amazing and affordable.
The Episode
Jamie and his fiancée Joanne were looking to build the perfect family home. However, funds were a problem from the start and throughout the project, the couple were looking for ways to keep costs down. And they had a wedding to pay for.
With the big day fast approaching, Jamie and Joanne faced some difficult decisions. Would they manage to get their dream home without compromising on design?
The Programme
Dubbed ‘Austerity Designs’ by The Guardian, Building the Dream is like Grand Designs on a budget. If the disco rooms, swimming pools and home spas thought to be ‘essentials’ by the wealthy families on the latter leave you feeling hard done by, Building the Dream is likely to be far more up your street.
Tune into More 4 at 9pm on Tuesday 28th October to catch Jamie and Joanne’s SIPs project, and find out how they weigh up the costs of homebuilding with their imminent wedding.
