Skipton based SIPS@Clays has completed installation of the Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) superstructure that will become the brand new, energy efficient community sports hub for Skipton and its surrounding areas.
Working on behalf of architects Rural Solutions, SIPS@Clays was commissioned to SIPs design, fabricate and install the 3,500 sq ft facility, which when completed at the end of 2023, will become home to Skipton Juniors FC and Skipton Cricket Club, as well as serving the wider Skipton community.
Rooted in Skipton, SIPS@Clays is one of the UK’s leading Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs) providers and with a long association with the sports ground, has been sponsoring Skipton Juniors FC for the past 5 years.
“Being Skipton ‘born and bred’, our company is embedded in the Skipton community and so we’re thrilled to be part of this exciting project.
“The sports ground is a much loved and much used local facility and it’s great to see that this community focused project has utilised the services of local businesses. As such, we’re extremely proud that our Skipton based business has been a fundamental part of the creation of the Skipton Community Sports Hub.”

Malcolm Birks, Head of Architecture, Rural Solutions said: “Skipton Community Sports Hub is a pioneering project, set up by Skipton Cricket Club and Skipton Juniors FC, that will provide changing and social facilities to support local community sport activities.
"Our design approach was to ensure both the construction method and running costs of the building would be cost-effective and energy efficient. High-performance SIPs panels ensure the building is well insulated and airtight. An air source heat pump, photovoltaic panels, underfloor heating, and low energy lighting will also help to keep energy requirements low.
"On completion, the hub will benefit future generations and help build connections in the local area. Being involved has enabled Rural Solutions to establish new relationships with local suppliers too, including with SIPS@Clays who, as the UK’s leading supplier of SIPs panels, have contributed hugely to the success of the project.”
The new club house is being built on the site of the old Sandylands Cricket pavilion and with its contemporary design, will feature a function room, bar, commercial kitchens, changing rooms and referee/umpire facilities.
As well as being HQ for Skipton Juniors FC and Skipton Cricket Club, the Hub is expected to host various community groups and clubs as well as being the focal point for a wide variety of sporting activities.
